Mixtape Monday: Can I Borrow 99 Cents For the New Common Album
Common’s 8th studio album, Universal Mind Control, drops tomorrow. And Common, being the man of the people that he is, understands how rough the economy is now. So rather than just write sympathetic raps, he and his record company worked out a deal with Zune.net/common, to sell his new album for a limited time for only 99 cents. You can go to their website and download a digital copy, and it’ll only set you back a soda pop or a youth bus ride. And if that is still too richey for your blood, he’s got the warm-up mixtape out for free called Can I Borrow 99 Cents For the New Common Album. The mix is by DJ Kid Cut Up, and features a couple drops from the Lonnie Lynnster himself. It’s a blend of songs and samples from the new record, some classics, and some surpirse goodies. For those of you who have joined the mailing list (hiphoplivesmixtapes@gmail.com), you got your copy last week when I did, but it’ll be sent out again tomorrow for anybody new. Per the usual, I’ve added an audio clip below.
I really don’t feel like I need to say much else. If you are at-all hesitant at this point about whether or not to check for this, I can’t really help you. Common is the man, and I’ve already played this mix in full 6 times since last week, so um, yeah, I’m co-signin on it. Pick it up suckaz.
